Over the past 4 years, I have had the privilege of welcoming many visitors to spæs lab Berlin who are interested in exploring the question of space as an artistic composition. Among them are not only musicians but also architects, writers, and visual artists. From the various discussions, one could frequently discern the question of scaling objects and arranging sounding elements in relation to each other as space. "longspaces" was my encapsulation of these inquiries into seven compositions in Ambisonics with distinct references to early ambient music. "longspaces" aims to be easily accessible and to shift spatial coordinates and focal points over a very long period without appearing narrative or didactic.
