This sound installation with two 3-9-3 3D sound projectors and translucent reflectors creates an experimental visual-auditory environment by de-ranging and synchronising the auditory and visual delineation of spatial dimensions. Through this process, various spatial constructs become perceptible as parallel, individual, fluid events. The audience's perception is altered as the assumption of spatial unity, traditionally supportive of Cartesian precision, dissolves into the form of an amorphous yet coherent, polyvalent spatial entity.
Atoll: immersiveness of the ridge, 2024
Through the creation of a translucent set-up with mobile walls serving as reflector panels, a visual delineation is integrated into a given architecture, forming visual entities—boundaries that generate specific places and zones. The composed sonic space is created using two 3-9-3 3D audio sound projectors that project phantom sound sources onto reflective architectural surfaces. The listener perceives sound predominantly emanating from walls, floors, and ceilings. The cause-and-effect chain is abruptly and repeatedly broken; the visual anchoring of the loudspeaker-object as the source becomes obsolete. Sound sources can now be freely adjusted and choreographed to create spatial layers, local atmospheres, and correlations—forming fluid yet stable aural architectures within a visually fixated yet translucent, multi-perspectival space.
